Winning a gold medal isn’t something that everyone gets to do. We watch athletes get medals but to experience the rush and adrenaline from hearing your name called, is an experience in itself.
Getting to watch the person you love, your best friend and soulmate win it is a whole other experience.

The excitement and rush I could see on his face when he is called is an overwhelming feeling. He went in hoping for at least a bronze. Well he got that too. All his hard work pays off in a matter of seconds as his name is called.

He walks to get his medal and you can hear his mom shout “that’s my son”. Full of pride and joy. I hear his coach shout ” yeah buddy” from the front row. His teammates, still waiting in line for their entrance for their division, cheering for him.
The world stops just for a moment as he collects what he has worked so hard for. The love I have for him as I watch from backstage fills my heart. The smile on his face is ear to ear.
I guess what I’d like to say is never give up. Don’t let your past hang over you. Push for the better you because take it from me watching first hand it does pay off.

To add to this weekend he does this all with his son watching. And his son gets to be backstage experiencing it all. His dad’s teammates and coach fist bumping and interacting with him shows the support behind a man who has worked so hard to get here.

Couldn’t be more proud of my stepson Daxon and his help backstage. Volunteering even when he was a bit bored lol. Watching is dad kept him focused on the job at hand and the youngest volunteer backstage. He did a great job.
I sit here the morning after while they both sleep off the excitement from the weekend and I look back on the year and a half Jamie and I have been together. I see a man push through everyone that said he won’t make it. Or that he was in over his head.
He took 22 years of addiction, and Satan tearing him down and showed who was unstoppable. Now 7 years clean he stands tall for the accomplishments he had done. He beat the odds that others put against him.

Without God being his biggest cheerleader, next to me of course, and his son. He would be in a much different place.
I love you Jamie more than you know and I don’t regret ever saying yes to our first date. No our relationship isn’t perfect and it’s not supposed to be. But as long as we keep God first we can be unstoppable together.

Enjoy the win baby. I pray there will be more to come as you walk onto bigger stages in the years to come.
