Nobody said that life would be easy. As a Christian not even the bible says follow God and everything will be just peachy. We all have crap in our lives that follow us or mountains and valleys that we have to climb.
It’s not the mountain or valley that’s the problem. I think we over think things to the point that we forget the big picture. Your problem is not the problem. Yes you read that right. I’ll say it again, Your problem is not the problem. Its how you handle it and deal with it that is the point. Even the bible tells us how to walk through our troubles.
It’s facing your Giant head on and using it to better yourself and improve who you are as a person. Lets face it not everything is in our control and not everything will go the way you want it to. So, just take one day at a time and just focus on what you can fix. Let God do the rest. If there is one thing I’ve learned is that when my focus is on God everything else falls into place.
There is a movie that I just love. Its called “Facing the Giants”. The point of the movie is that you can do anything when you put your mind to with Christ in your corner. Yes its going to be hard, yes its going to suck sometimes. But there is an end.
In the movie a football coach who is struggling with finances and life and a job that might be taken away from him, never gives up on his team. One of my favorite parts in the movie is when in a practice he askes one of the players to do an exercise called the death crawl. One player gets on the back of another player and he crawls on feet and hands. In the movie he blind folds the payer crawling. He then starts his crawl and soon gets tired. He starts to feel like he can’t make it and wants to stop. The coach pushes him to keep going and all the player had was his coach in his ear.
Can you see the point yet? The player can’t see the end goal. All he has was his coach and the pain he was feeling. When the player finally fell, the coach took his blind fold off and said “Look up Brock you’re in the endzone”. The point is if we focus on the end we forget the purpose and the one we should be focused on. We get distracted on the distance. It’s like the saying “like watching water boil” seams to take forever if you watch it. But if you don’t focus on it, it goes faster. If we listen to God and keep taking one step at a time and only focus on what is right in front of you, you will see it unfold before you and all you did was listen. When God has your future all you have to worry about is today.
The other part of the movie I like is the end. The team faces the Giants. Yep that’s the name of the team. And they are outnumbered and they are bigger. Not even half way through the game this small team feels defeated and ready to quit. Each player has something they have to go through to finish the game. And leave it to the smallest player to kick them into a win with a kick that is impossible. They win even with the odds against them.
So, focus on today. Not tomorrow or yesterday. Give God your future and your past becomes footprints of memories to remember and your kids have a path that is unbackable and unstoppable to follow.
So, face your Giants head on and let God’s voice guide you through your storm. Take a deep breath and pay attention to how you handle the problem not the problem itself. Use it to your advantage and learn to make your future a better place.
One day at a time.
