Hoofprints

Have you ever walked through a horse barn first thing in the morning? The smell of the barn, I mean hay and grain that is. lol The nickering and naying for breakfast. Oh and that sound after food has bean given out. you know what sound I’m talking about. A barn of horses eating is the best sound ever. It doesn’t matter if its hay or grain, it’s music to my ears.

A clean stall of fresh shavings and hay in the corner. Water topped up and ial swept. I horse person’s OSD. The smell of the tack room full of lather saddles and bridles. Or the hay loft. Now that is a great place to hang out when you need a break.

As a horse mom, these are all things that make me happy. I would spend hours in the barn. You would have to drag me out.

I miss it.

I miss you. The noise you made when you ate. Your happy face when we came to see you. I miss the feelings I had when we were together. I miss being close to you and your smell.

Cody’s Paradise AKA Cody or Bubby 1996-2024

When we have an animal in our lives they are more then a pet. They become family. I was 18 and he was 3 when he came into my life. Dec 11 early in the morning My best friend passed away. The hard part is not being able to be there with him. 30 years old and was going strong up till he end.

I am so thankful for the family that let him board with them. All though I was not there he was not alone. God brings people into your life when you least expect it. I’ve said it before. Anyone even animals can be a hidden angel. My horse was mine and his stand in family was his. Even Animals have angels. Higney Homestead Farms was Cody’s stand in family. Thank you to James Richardson and Lisa Cook and their kids for giving Cody a place to call home in his last days. You guys gave me peace of mind that he was safe and being loved.

James taking his little one for a ride

Cody, made kids and adults laugh. He challenged those who rode him and loved on those who loved him. He taught kids by challenging them and made riding enjoyable. He gave me purpose.

Rest in peace my best friend.
