Cleansing Waters

Have you ever gone swimming in the river? Fresh clear water. So clear you can see everything at the bottom in detail. Cold yet refreshing, gently running over the rocks. Ok some rivers are not so clear. But you get the picture.

Last summer (2023) I watch 8 youth get baptized in the Trent river. Hearing them tell their stories and how they got to the diction to get baptized was heart worming. It made me stop and think about what it would have been like for Jesus when John Baptized Him. Was it cold? was the water clear? Was it Calm? I have so many questions. I also have questions for John. Was he nerves? or just the over all feelings he would have had.

Some won’t understand why being baptized is such a big deal. For Christians its a stand in faith. Its a public vow to follow Christ. Kind of like a marriage vow. The difference is eternal life. Never going through life alone. Someone always cheering you on and being there when you make mistakes and still loving you regardless.

That’s what giving your life to the Lord is like. Never walking alone. To be baptized is the public stand and vow to live a Godley life and following Christ and allowing him to show you your path.

At the age of 12 I made the diction to Commit my life to Christ. Best diction I ever made. Now I’m working at the best job ever and stress free. Now don’t take me wrong. God doesn’t say you won’t have struggles if you follow Him. He says you will not do it alone. It has taken me a long time to get to where I am and it wasn’t with out struggle. But as the footprints poem says “when you only see one set of foot prints, it was then that I carried you.” That poem is the whole back bone to my blog. Footprints made by parents start as a set. Two become one. Then there are a small set walking beside. (Stay toned for a blog on the background on Footprints Mom.) The point is we where not created to be alone. Look at our world and the ciaos. Its in ciaos because so many walk without God. Just look at the lives changed and becoming better at living just because they decided to follow Christ.

It comes down to two things. Live in Ciaos or live in Peace. I choose Peace.

Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you, do not be afraid for am with you, I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him with not parish but have everlasting life.”

Every time I walk along a river I’m reminded of the decision I made at 12 years old. Now 43 I’m at peace with where I’m going when God calls me home. Are you ready? Do you know where you are going? Do you still have questions?

Open a bible, call a pastor or give me a shout. Don’t have a bible let me know I’ll get you one. Send me questions and I’ll do my best to answer. If I don’t know the answer I’ll ask my pastor. We are all in it together.
