Lazy River

A long weekend with the boys in the Kawartha Lakes, takes us on an adventure for a hidden treasure.

We started our adventure with a needed visit to Grandma in the hospital. I couldn’t go up as they only let 2 visitor’s a day. They love their grandma time. You see, this was to be a weekend with grandma. She was to be with us through it all. It was hard to go through the weekend without her.

Grandma insisted that we keep to our plans. So we did. I documented everything for her. She got a play by play each day. So, it was like out way of keeping her with us.

On to the adventure….

Our goal was to find a hidden treasure, yes you read that right a treasure. I know, but it sounds like fun right? Well it was. First thing is first, We started at a cottage for some fishing and fun on the water. Yes I even got in myself. Even caught a few fish myself. A boat ride to check out cottages along the shore. Wow what you can do with a boat load of money.

Ok, ok, treasure hunt I know. Ok, so Sunday we headed out. On the hunt for Kawartha’s hidden treasure. With a few pieces of information we started. Between Bobcaygeon and Buckhorn was what we where told. So hwy 36 we go. Beautiful drive took us around bending roads and amazing scenery. Believe it or not it was about 20 min and we saw it. A small sign, it took all three of us to see it.

Mississauga River. Yep that was the treasure. A beautiful landscape with a winding river over an amazing rocky bed. Small rapids can be heard in the distance, rippling sounds of the waist deep water. Shading trees hang over the river like an umbrella shading from the rain.

A nature made lazy river. So, why is this river so special? Lets see if you can find it out. Better yet go find it.

Go find your treasure.
