Paw Prints * Shayla & Gigie

November 16th 2020, Shayla and Gigie came to live with us.

With an uncertain future before them a litter of kittens were posted on Facebook market place free to a good home. Unnamed, no home and no family.

Wait we need to take this back to Putting our cat of 10 years down in 2020. Casey was a rescue from an abusive home. She was a big part of our family and loved till the very end. Then just before Christmas 2020 we had to put our beloved dog down as she was very weak and very sick. Our rabbit that was a gift to the boys was with us for a short time. When we had to move to a smaller place we could not take him with us. In one year we lost our furry family members.

As a mom this was hard for me. I try to give my kids something in my home that they can call their own. Something special just for them. Another single mom struggle.

This brings us back to a litter of kittens with an uncertain future. I answered the add asking about one little gray and white kitten. Unfortunately, it had already been taken. Well not unfortunate for kitty. He got a new home.

10 min latter I get a message saying there are 2 siblings left. No one wanted them and they were so close that they could not be separated. With out hesitation I said I’d be there after work Monday. Not sure what I was getting into but saving them was all I was thinking about.

When I get to the house they were hiding and scared. Got them in the carrier and on my way home called the boys at their dads with the news. Told them to pick one and name them. Chris chose the girl and named her Shayla, Cory chose the boy and named him Gigie. Our family is now complete.

With covid 19 in full swing, getting them fixed was going to be a problem. I also didn’t have the money. Now what. I reached out to Furry Friends in Barrie and they agreed to help me. Surrendering them to Furry Friends and being their foster family was the only why. After they are both fixed we can adopt them back as our own. Saving in cost by almost half. Thanks to Furry Friends for all you have done for our little ones.
